French two-wheeler manufacturer Peugeot has launched the Euro5-compliant version of the Pulsion 125 in the European market. The maxi-scooter has received a bunch of aesthetic and mechanical changes, which interestingly make it on par (on paper) with the Yamaha Aerox 155 that features a more powerful engine.
The new Peugeot Pulsion 125 gets a nip-and-tuck, and now features LED illumination all around. It now gets a new dual LED headlight unit flanked by LED DRLs. The fascia complements the aggressive styling of this scooter. But it wouldn’t be half as fun if the aesthetics didn’t match the performance. And thankfully, that isn’t the case.
Peugeot has armed the Pulsion 125 with a 125cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces 14.6PS at 8800rpm and 12.4Nm at 6900rpm. For reference, the Yamaha Aerox 155 makes 15PS at 8000rpm and 13.9Nm at 6500rpm from the Yamaha R15-derived 155cc engine.
This engine is supplemented by equally capable hardware as well. The Peugeot Fusion’s tubular steel chassis is suspended onto a 37mm telescopic fork offering 95mm travel and dual shocks with 90mm travel. Braking duties have been entrusted to a 260mm/210mm disc setup, backed by the safety net of dual-channel ABS.
As expected from a maxi-scooter, the Peugeot Fusion flaunts ample underseat storage, and gets a big 11.1-litre fuel tank. In terms of features too, this maxi-scooter doesn’t disappoint. It flaunts keyless ignition, USB charger, emergency braking lights and semi-digital instrument console with a TFT inset that gets smartphone connectivity and navigation. For the GT variant, there’s even a windshield and aluminum footboard inserts for better grip.
The Peugeot Pulsion 125 is priced at EUR 4549, which roughly comes up to Rs 3.70 lakh, to EUR 4899, which comes to Rs 3.98 lakh. While this maxi-scooter may not be India-bound anytime soon, it was spotted here a couple of years ago. For now, the Yamaha Aerox 155 is the best bet in the segment.
