The year 2023 proved to be an interesting year for the Indian two-wheeler industry which witnessed many promising electric bikes and scooter launches. Both local and international players made significant entries, contributing to the industry's dynamic landscape. Now, let's explore what 2024 has in store for us:
Having established dominance in the petrol-powered scooter category with the Activa, Honda is now poised to enter the rapidly expanding electric scooter market. The best way for the brand to do this is to place their bets on an electric scooter based on the Activa platform, potentially named the Honda Activa Electric. Displayed earlier at the 2023 Auto Expo, the TVS iQube ST is equipped with a larger battery and an extended range of 145km along with a few additional features. The electric scooter was initially scheduled for launch muchearlier launch, but it’s been delayed by some time. However, we expect the iQube ST to be launched in 2024. TVS has stopped the bookings currently, and the price is yet to be revealed, but an estimated cost could be around Rs 1.75 lakh (ex-showroom, without FAME II).
The Burgman Electric was showcased at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show, the e-scooter was based on the Burgman Street 125. It was also spotted testing in India in 2021 and is expected to launch finally in 2024. The Burgman Electric will be Suzuki's first electric scooter in the country, rivalling models like Ola S1 Pro and TVS iQube S. It could be priced at around Rs 1.2-1.5 lakh (ex-showroom).

Hero MotoCorp's electric division, Vida is expected to update the Vida V1 Pro in 2024, adding features like updated navigation based on Google Maps just like the Ather 450X and a larger battery pack, offering an more range over the current 110km.
The updated version may cost around Rs 15,000 more than the existing Vida V1 Pro which is priced at Rs 1,25,900 (ex-showroom Bengaluru, including FAME 2 subsidy).
Ather's most powerful electric scooter, the Ather 450 Apex, features transparent body panels, a special paint scheme, Ather's fastest-ever Warp+ mode and a top speed of 100kmph. Bookings have already commenced at Rs 2,500, with deliveries set to begin in March 2024.
Even Ather Energy’s CEO over Twitter has confirmed the arrival of Ather's family-focused scooter. The Ather family scooter has been spied recently with a boxy design and a unique camo wrap. The e-scooter is set to launch in 2024 and will compete with models like TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak.
Bajaj is expected to update the Chetak electric scooter in 2024, which will be equipped with new features and a larger battery pack for increased range, more than the current range of 113km. An affordable variant with a hub-mounted motor may also be in the works.
Gogoro showcased the 'CrossOver e-scooter range' for B2B sales along with the launch of its battery-swapping network. The Taiwanese manufacturer plans to offer its scooter range to general consumers (B2C) by the second quarter of 2024. Read more about it here.
Chennai-based Raptee Motors is developing a streetfighter-based electric motorcycle which is expected to be revealed in early 2024. Competing with the Orxa Mantis, the Raptee Electric bike could be priced at around Rs 2.9 lakh (ex-showroom).
In addition to these, we can anticipate updates or new colour choices for existing models from other manufacturers like Ola Electric, Ultraviolette, Tork Motors, Revolt Motors and others.
