With the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio N launch on June 27 just around the corner, news keeps coming in thick and fast. Last month we got a close estimate of power figures of the 2-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines in our report. Now, we have exclusive confirmed figures, as well as some other technical dope on the SUV.

For starters, the 2.2-litre diesel engine will come in the 132PS/300Nm and the 175PS guises. The former will be offered for lower-spec variants, while the latter should be for higher trims. As for the 2-litre 200PS/380Nm turbo-petrol engine, its performance numbers match the XUV700, confirming it’s the same motor.
These engines will get a 6-speed manual transmission as standard, while the higher-spec diesel and petrol engines will also get a 6-speed automatic transmission option. Interestingly, for the 175PS diesel motor, torque figures vary, with the manual option putting out 370Nm compared to the automatic’s 400Nm. Rear-wheel drive is standard on all three options, with a 4WD option (called the ScorpioN 4XPLOR) available for the 175PS diesel engine and the petrol motor.
We already know through earlier leaks and teasers it’ll get four ‘4XPLOR’ drive modes (sand, mud, grass and snow) that can be controlled via a rotary knob as well as a low and high-range gearbox. Now there’s more mechanical dope on the Scoprio N which includes mechanical locking rear differential, ESP-based brake locking front differential, an independent front suspension system, a five-link rear suspension and FSD (Frequency Selective Damping) dampers.
You can check out how the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio N will look like on the outside in all the angles via our detailed image gallery. We’ve also recently been treated to a first look at the cabin, which looks premium and is loaded with features you can check out right here.
The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio’s prices are expected to start from Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom). It’ll serve as an alternative to the likes of the Tata Harrier, Hyundai Creta and Alcazar as well as the Volkswagen Taigun.
