- Manual slightly less efficient than before, vice versa for AT.
- Engine now only gets idle auto-start/stop
- The 83PS 1.2-litre petrol with CVT axed.
- Prices likely to start from Rs 6.5 lakh.
One big update to the facelifted Maruti Suzuki Baleno will be the availability of only a 90PS 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine without mild-hybrid technology. While the 5-speed manual has been retained, the automatic variants will see the smooth CVT replaced by an AMT as a more cost-effective option.
How does this work out for the deathless query, ‘kitna deti hai?’
We have got our hands on a leaked document revealing all the important details:

The only fuel-saving tech in the facelifted Baleno is its idle auto-start/stop system.

The pre-facelift Baleno DualJet packed mild-hybrid technology with torque assist for improved fuel economy.
There has been a definite step-up in features. Additions include a larger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech (Telematics only), a 360-degree camera, and a head-up display.
Passenger safety should be taken care of by multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors, electronic stability control, and ISOFIX child-seat mounts.
The facelifted Maruti Suzuki Baleno will be offered in six trims: Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Zeta (O) (New), Alpha, and Alpha (O) (new). The AMT will be limited to the Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. Pre-launch bookings are underway, and prices – expected to start from Rs 6.5 lakh – will be officially announced in the coming days.
The facelifted Baleno will lock horns with the Tata Altroz, Honda Jazz, Hyundai i20, and the updated Toyota Glanza.
