[UPDATE: Hero has launched the Karizma XMR in India. It looks muscular, attractive and packs a punch! Check it out here]
Ahead of its official launch, the design patent of the Hero Karizma XMR 210 has surfaced online and it looks pretty aggressive in its styling. The revival of the iconic Karizma Moniker has been in the news for quite a while, along with multiple sightings of the bike, but we now have some exclusive information about the frame and design.
Catering to the old-school and the modern masses, the Hero Karizma XMR 210 gets a fully faired design with a sharp fairing seemingly with a Japanese influence. The fairing of the bike looks identical to what we have spotted earlier.
Interestingly, the fuel tank is pretty aggressive and sharp, some would even say that it resembles the fuel tank of the KTM RC 390. Apart from that, it gets a sporty split seat, and despite that, the saddle looks pretty roomy.
What’s baffling us most right now is that the Karizma XMR gets a trellis frame with a box swingarm (which should be less expensive to manufacture compared to an aluminium unit), the former is a first for Hero and a major departure from the diamond frames. This should ensure a little bit of flex, enhancing the bike's cornering abilities. Oh, and the handlebars are raised clip-ons, making it touring-friendly.
Another first for the brand is the new liquid-cooled motor. Likely to be powered by a 210cc single-cylinder mill, it could make around 25PS and 22Nm, similar to the Bajaj Pulsar RS200.
What’s odd here is that the Hero Karizma XMR 210 will be the most premium offering from Hero yet, and it still runs on a telescopic fork. This is despite the Hero Xtreme 160R 4V getting a more premium USD fork.
Lastly, as you can see the patent image of the premium-looking left switchgear, the navigational buttons and the large console housing indicate the possibility of a TFT console.
It is safe to say that the upcoming Hero Karizma XMR 210 will be a game-changer product for Hero, and we hope it lives up to the name of the legend. Expect it to debut in the next couple of months with a price of around Rs 1.75 lakh ex-showroom. It will resume its rivalries with the Pulsars, now going up against the Bajaj Pulsar RS200. Another alternative will be the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250.
