Kia India is on a roll, and they’re not hitting the brakes anytime soon! While all eyes are on the much-anticipated launch of the Kia Syros, the automaker has some aces up its sleeve. We have an exclusive confirmation about the arrival of the Carens facelift and the Carens EV, both of which will be introduced together later this year. With this announcement, the Korean carmaker is gearing up to expand its portfolio in both the MPV and EV segments, making 2025 a blockbuster year for Kia in India.
The Kia Carens facelift is expected to pack major design tweaks, more features, and even some ADAS tech to keep the three-row MPV competitive in its segment. We can expect a refreshed grille, sleeker LED headlamps, and redesigned alloy wheels, while the interior could get a larger infotainment screen, more features such as rear ventilated seats and improved upholstery.
These updates will make it more than a facelift but do note that it is not a generation change. Honestly, this sounds like a win-win situation for the Indian automotive market.
Meanwhile, the Kia Carens EV marks the brand’s foray into the all-electric MPV space. It’s likely to share most of the design elements with its ICE sibling but will sport EV-specific styling cues like a closed-off grille, aerodynamic wheels, and blue accents. The Carens EV will be based on the same architecture as the ICE model which can possibly have a driving range of over 400 km and fast-charging capabilities.
Both the cars are expected to be launched together sometime around mid this year.
The facelifted Carens will reinforce Kia’s position in the MPV segment, while the Carens EV will cater to eco-conscious buyers seeking a family-friendly EV. With growing demand for electric vehicles and a competitive MPV market, Kia’s latest offerings could make a big splash in India.
Kia plans to launch the Syros first, which is confirmed for 1 February 2025 and then followed by the Carens facelift and the Kia Carens EV around mid of 2025.
Pricing details are under wraps, but expect the facelifted Carens to command a notable premium over the current model’s Rs 10.59 lakh (ex-showroom) starting price, expect it to be priced around Rs 11.5 lakh while the Carens EV could start around Rs 16 lakh.
It is worth noting that the current iteration of the Carens will continue to be on sale alongside the Kia Carens Facelift.
The Kia Syros, set to debut before the Carens duo, is expected to be a sporty and premium sub-4m SUV, slotting above the Sonet in Kia’s lineup. With a focus on premium design and powerful turbo-petrol engines, the Syros will take on rivals like the Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Brezza.
Also, the facelifted EV6 is scheduled to be introduced later this year, packing a refreshed design, more features and larger battery packs.
Kia seems to have a packed year ahead, and with this lineup, it’s clear they’re leaving no stone unturned to dominate both traditional and electric markets.
