EXCLUSIVE: New Ather e-Scooter Spied, More Affordable 450X Incoming

A new Ather Energy e-scooter has been spied testing on Indian roads under heavy camouflage and we have a bunch of speculations as to what this test mule could be. 

Ather Energy could be working on launching a more affordable electric scooter, a variant that will sit below the Ather 450 Plus. And even though this new variant will be more affordable, we doubt that Ather will compromise on the features aspect. That said, it is likely to get a smaller battery pack and motor.

So, we can expect the upcoming e-scooter to offer less range and top speed. Apart from that, the body design is exactly the same as the current gen Ather 450X and 450 Plus, so expect it to use the same frame and chassis.

This could turn out to be a boon for Ather, considering that government subsidies are ending across the country, which will shoot up the prices of the e-scooters significantly. However, it will only be a boon if Ather gets the pricing of the upcoming model right. Ola Electric did something similar to counter the more affordable electric scooter segment and launched the S1 in India at Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom).
