In an exclusive interview, Yogesh Mahansaria, MD of Reise Moto, reveals the brand’s upcoming products, expansion plans and more.

Quick Highlights

  • More helmets and riding gear to be offered

  • Upcoming flagship stores across India

  • Reise Moto in talks with OEMs for tyre supply

Reise Moto is an Indian motorcycle tyre brand, offering a range of application-specific tyre options for touring, off-road riding and commuting. It has also entered the gear market aiming to deliver tyre and gear options of European standards in India, at an accessible price point.

We recently got an opportunity to interview Yogesh Mahansaria, the Founder & Managing Director of Reise Moto, giving us an insight into Reise Moto’s plan to bring more riding gear and helmet options to India:

Upcoming Product Plans

Riding Gear

Reise Moto plans to democratise riding gear options in India for the passionate motorcycling community. The brand has partnered up with four European brands: Ixon, Acerbis, Spidi and Tucano Urbano. As per Yogesh Mahansaria, “I feel, we started with the international brands because we also wanted to learn how they think about quality, design and other things. Now that we have a good understanding, we’re trying to use the knowledge and work with some of these brands, some of which are Reise-branded products.”. The brand has also partnered up with Indian brands like Viaterra, Carbonado, Amaroq and more.

A few samples of Reise Moto branded jackets were also showcased at the flagship store, which according to the company, will be launched in the next six weeks. Inspired by what European brands offer, a greater emphasis has been given to not only the protectors but also to the safety rating of the fabric for better abrasion resistance. Yogesh Mahansaria stated that anything with the ‘Reise’ name on it will have international design and quality at a sensible price range. We got to see the Indian actor Rannvijay Singha wearing an attractive jacket, a prototype from the future Reise Moto product range. They have also introduced a feature to put your name, Instagram handle or hashtag on the apparel, a unique feature to set it apart from others.

Helmets

Reise Moto has partnered with two European helmet brands currently undergoing the BIS certificate process, whose names will be revealed by the end of the year. In the meantime, other helmet brands are on offer, like Airoh (recently got the BIS certificate), Axxis, MT and SMK. The brand aims to deliver a comprehensive range of helmets at different price points.

Will we see more flagship stores?

Reise Moto recently inaugurated its first Exclusive Brand Outlet in Mumbai, Maharashtra, which is company-owned and company-operated. With this store, the brand wants to offer a selection of tyres and riding gear under one roof. Yogesh Mahansaria told us, “We do plan to have flagship stores in multiple cities at least the major cities across India but we have to go step by step. It is important to find the right location, and have the right footprint to get this sort of experience.” when asked about opening more flagship stores in India. Cities like Bangalore and Delhi seem to be on their ‘hit list’.

He also added that the idea behind the flagship store is to provide an international experience to consumers. A team visited leading retail outlets in Europe to understand the retail experience of purchasing a product and replicate it here. While the brand is looking to open more brand outlets across India, they are also looking forward to expanding their dealership network.

Will Reise Moto supply tyres to any automobile manufacturers?

We have seen multiple tyre brands like MRF, CEAT, Apollo, and Michelin come fitted as standard on Indian-made bikes. We asked Yogesh Mahansaria if we could see Reise Moto tyres provided as OEM fitments. Here’s his 2 cents on it: ”We are talking to several OEMs about the value proposition we can offer. As you know with OEMs it’s a long cycle of decision-making–they have to look at their models when the new models come, and what their requirements are so it is a lengthy process but we are certainly talking to different OEM manufacturers”. Yogesh did not mention any specific bike makers that Reise Moto have approached so far.

In conclusion, we learnt that Reise Moto is poised to make a significant impact in the Indian tyre and gear market by bringing in European standard designs and technology at sensible price points. To make an effort to develop a relationship with the riding community, the brand has also been actively taking part in events, a notable one being its participation as a team in the Indian Supercross League. They have also been testing their offroad products, mainly off-road tyres, with Indian Dakar athlete Ashish Raorane.
