The upcoming Tata Altroz Racer has been spied testing undisguised on our roads ahead of its launch next month, which has been unofficially confirmed via leaked information. It marks the entry of a sporty hatchback that will fight it out with the Hyundai i20 N Line. Other than cosmetic updates to the exterior and interior, it will get an updated set of kit and features a powerful engine to justify its sporty character.
At first glance, the Altroz Racer stands out with sporty decals and a blacked-out theme, featuring dual-tone paint and black elements like the roof, alloy wheels, ORVMs, and bonnet with dual stripes. Additionally, a new orange colour adds to its vibrancy and there’s a ‘Racer’ badge on the front fender as well. And while this test mule was seen with the standard car’s alloys, we expect the final version to have a bespoke set for a unique look.
Inside, the sporty all-black interior scheme is accentuated by glossy piano black finish on the dashboard and orange accents matching the exterior colour. Orange highlights around the AC vents, gear console, steering wheel stitching and seat stripes enhance its sporty appeal. Furthermore the ambient lighting and footwell lighting now get an orange hue instead of the blue colour found in the standard variants.

Tech feature upgrades include a larger 10.25-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 360-degree camera setup, and a digital driver’s display as seen in other Tata models. Comfort and convenience features are likely to comprise ventilated front seats, a voice-activated sunroof, and six standard airbags, alongside rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights, a wearable key, and height-adjustable front seats.
Under the hood, the Altroz Racer inherits the turbo-petrol engine from the Nexon, boosting output to 120 PS and 170 Nm, compared to the standard Altroz i-Turbo's 110 PS and 140 Nm. It's expected to offer a 6-speed manual transmission.
The Altroz Racer will likely be launched at around the Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) mark, a slight price premium over the standard Altroz . It will compete with the Hyundai i20 N Line.
