The Maruti Suzuki XL6 people mover will get its first midlife facelift on April 21. It's part of Maruti’s massive 8-car launch plan, which includes the new Baleno and upcoming next-gen Alto. Updates will largely be cosmetic, yes, but the automatic variants are likely to get a new transmission as well.

Starting with the design, at the front, changes are likely to be limited to a revised grille insert for both models, while the bumpers seem to have been carried forward. In profile, the XL6 could sport new dual-tone alloy rims if previous spy shots are anything to go by. Apart from that, it will remain similar to the outgoing MPV.

Inside, the dashboard design and layout will be similar to the current MPV. That said, they could sport the updated 7-inch or the larger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system found in the Baleno. Plus, Maruti could spruce up the upholstery and colour schemes to give the cabin a breath of fresh air.

The facelifted XL6 will continue with the 105PS 1.5-litre petrol engine. While the 5-speed manual transmission will be retained, the ancient 4-speed torque converter could be replaced with a more modern 6-speed ‘box.

The facelifted XL6 could command a minor premium over the outgoing model priced from Rs 10.14 lakh. It will fight it out with the Mahindra Marazzo and Kia Carens.
