Hyundai India has taken the wraps off the facelifted i20 hatchback, which will go on sale in international markets first. This is the first major update for this iteration of the third-gen hatchback and is expected to come to India in the coming months. So without further ado, here are the top 5 things you need to know about the revised i20:
The i20’s styling seems to take a leaf or two from the 2023 Verna. For starters, the Hyundai badge now sits right below the bonnet and below it is the cascading grille that flanks the headlamps. This new setup means the bumpers have been revised and overall and the front-end looks sharp and sporty.
In contrast, new alloy wheels are the only change on the side profile while the back gets a tinkered rear bumper. Internationally, there are also three new colour options to choose from: Lumen Grey Pearl, Lucid Lime Metallic and Meta Blue Pearl.
Things are very familiar on the inside as the overall dashboard layout and styling is exactly the same as the pre-facelift car. However, minor revisions are there in the form of a revised upholstery and trims. And internationally, if you opt for the Lucid Lime package, splashes of green do liven up the all-black cabin.

Internationally, the i20 gets a 10.25-inch fully digital driver’s display, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Bose sound system with sound mood lighting, wireless phone charger and connected car tech. On the safety front, the hatch has multiple airbags, electronic stability control and select ADAS features.
Internationally, the i20 just gets the 1-litre turbo-petrol engine in two states of tune: 100PS and 120PS. It can be had either with a 6-speed iMT (clutchless manual) or a 7-speed DCT. In India, the 120PS turbo-petrol engine and 83PS 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit should be carried forward from the current model.
We suspect the facelifted Hyundai i20 to hit our shores in the coming months. And it could command a premium over the current model that starts from Rs 7.46 lakh (ex-showroom). It will continue to rival Tata Altroz, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Citroen C3 and Toyota Glanza.
