News on the Skoda Kodiaq’s midlife refresh is coming thick and fast, with the latest update confirming that the premium luxury SUV will be launched on January 10. Earlier, a Delhi RTO document established that it’ll be offered in three trims: Sportline (new), Style, and Laurin and Klement.

The midlife refresh brings notable updates to the SUV’s styling, including a wider front grille with a splash of chrome around the slats, sleeker-looking LED headlights, tweaked air dams, new dual-tone alloy wheels, and restyled LED taillamps and bumpers.

The most noticeable change, however, is in the cabin – the new two-spoke steering wheel. The features confirmed by Skoda on Twitter include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, a virtual cockpit, 12-way electrically adjustable front seats (with heating and ventilation), three-zone climate control, and an updated 12-speaker Canton sound system with subwoofer.

Multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, and an electric parking brake (with auto-hold) should ensure passenger safety.

The 2022 Kodiaq will now be powered by a 190PS 2-litre turbo-petrol engine, which replaces the pre-facelift model’s 150PS 2-litre diesel. The AWD and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic have been retained.

The facelifted Skoda Kodiaq – expected to be priced from Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom, India) onwards – has already begun reaching dealerships, and unofficial bookings are underway. It will take on the Toyota Fortuner petrol, Volkswagen Tiguan, and entry-level luxury SUVs like the BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA.
