This image also gives us a first look at what the production-spec Exter’s fascia, whose first roll-out unit is finished in Ranger-Khaki Green, looks like. It gets a sleek grille, flanking the LED DRLs that have an ‘H’ insignia. Right below it is a large air dam with a set of square shaped projector headlights. The Exter’s dashboard layout is exactly the same as the Grand i10 Nios’. But unlike the hatchback, the micro SUV’s interior comes finished in an all-black hue with splashes of green. Its semi-leatherette seats also have bold Exter embossing to remind you about the model you’re seated in.

In terms of features, the Exter gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected car tech, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digitised driver’s display, a dash cam, wireless phone charger, automatic climate control, a sunroof and cruise control. Standard safety features include six airbags, ABS with EBD and electronic stability control.

Underneath the hood, the Exter will get the Grand i10 Nios’ 83PS 1.2-litre petrol engine that can be specced with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. This engine can be had with a CNG kit and this powertrain will be offered with a manual gearbox only. To know the detailed variant-wise powertrain combinations, head here

We suspect the Exter could be priced from around the Rs 6 lakh mark (ex-showroom). It will mainly go up against the Tata Punch. Other rivals of the Hyundai Exter include the Maruti Suzuki Ignis as well as some variants of the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
