To spice up the sub-500cc sportbike segment in India, Kawasaki is all set to finally debut the Ninja ZX-4R in India. This wild supersport has been teased by Team Green already and will launch tomorrow, but before that, make sure you know what’s coming your way.
If the aggressive looks, breathtaking stance, and sharp design language weren’t enough, Kawasaki has done a radical thing with this 400cc supersport. It’s powered by a four-cylinder engine, that’s right, a 400cc four-cylinder motor! This has to make an insane amount of power right? And it does: a whopping 77PS – 80PS with the ram air intake – at 14,500rpm. Now THAT is how you get high on the green stuff!
To ensure that this berserk output is complemented by the right set of hardware, Kawasaki has equipped this supersport with a Showa separate function USD fork, and a vertically mounted preload-adjustable monoshock. Oh, and it features big dual disc brakes at the front and a kerb weight of just 189kg, which doesn't sound like a lot.
Even the electronic aids and features on this bike are something to talk about – power modes, smartphone connectivity, traction control, a quickshifter, slip-and-assist clutch, and a lot more.
And finally, those thinking that this will not be gentle on the pockets, are absolutely right. With an expected price tag of around Rs 8-9 lakh, the Ninja ZX-4R is nowhere close to what other 400cc bikes will cost. That said, it’s also not like any other bike in its segment.
