Here Are All The Upcoming Car Launches In August 2024, Including Mahindra Thar Roxx And Tata Curvv

The list includes highly anticipated models from Tata Motors and Mahindra, as well as multiple launches from global carmakers bringing performance models

With July coming to an end, we are set to witness an action-packed August with multiple car launches on our shores. The upcoming launches will include multiple long-awaited SUVs from Indian carmakers as well as launches from brands like Mercedes and Lamborghini. Here's a detailed overview of all the car launches scheduled for August 2024.

Nissan X-Trail

First up is the Nissan X-Trail, set to launch on August 1, 2024. The X-Trail marks Nissan’s return to the full-size SUV segment after over a decade. It will be brought as a completely built unit (CBU) and will feature a 163 PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 12V mild-hybrid system. It will include features such as an 8-inch infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, and a panoramic sunroof. Prices are expected to start from around Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom).

Nissan X-Trail

Tata Curvv EV

Tata is set to launch the all-electric version of the Curvv SUV coupe on August 7, 2024. The carmaker has already revealed the exterior of the production-spec versions of both the ICE-powered Curvv and the Curvv EV, with the Curvv's launch planned for the coming months.

The Curvv EV will be offered with multiple powertrain options with an expected range of up to 500 km. It will get features like dual digital screens, powered driver’s seat, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and safety tech like ADAS. Tata is likely to launch it with a starting price of around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).

Mahindra Thar ROXX

Another eagerly awaited SUV is the 5-door version of the Mahindra Thar, named the Thar ROXX, which is set to launch on August 15, 2024. It is expected to be offered with the same 2-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines as the Thar 3-door but with more power.

We already have a few pictures of the exterior styling, but the cabin details are still scarce. However, Mahindra's latest teaser did confirm that the Thar ROXX will include a panoramic sunroof, while  it is also expected to pack additional features such as a 10.25-inch infotainment system, dual zone climate control and even the inclusion of ADAS. It is expected to start from around Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). 

Citroen Basalt

Tata Curvv's rival, the Citroen Basalt, has been confirmed for a launch in early August 2024. Its production-ready model’s exterior styling has been revealed, though the interior remains under wraps.

Based on the C3 Aircross, the Basalt will likely be powered by a 110 PS 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine. It is expected to feature a 10.2-inch infotainment system, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, and a wireless phone charger. Citroen is expected to price the Basalt from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).

MG Cloud EV

Recently, MG teased the Cloud EV for the first time in India, and it could launch next month. This all-electric crossover SUV has been spotted testing in India once, and is sold globally under the Wuling brand. In international markets, it is equipped with multiple battery packs, including a 50.6 kWh battery with a CLTC-claimed range of 460 km. The Cloud EV’s pricing is expected to start from around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it in contention with the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400, and the entry-level variants of the Tata Curvv EV.

Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe

Shifting focus to luxury carmakers, Mercedes-Benz is set to launch two models on August 8, 2024, one of which is the second-generation AMG GLC 43 Coupe. The GLC 43 Coupe features AMG-specific design elements like a vertical-slatted grille, 21-inch alloy wheels, and a quad exhaust system. The AMG treatment follows inside with AMG-specific inserts and graphics for the digital screens. It is powered by a 421 PS/500 Nm 2-litre turbo-petrol engine, accelerating from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.8 seconds. The Mercedes AMG GLC 43 Coupe will lock horns with the BMW X4.

Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet

The second Mercedes to launch on August 8, 2024, is the CLE Cabriolet. The new CLE was globally revealed back in 2023, and now the automaker is bringing the drop-top version to our shores. The powertrain specifications for the India-spec CLE Cabriolet are still unknown. However, internationally, it is offered with a 2-litre turbo-petrol, 2-litre diesel, and 3-litre six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine options.

In India, we expect Mercedes to offer it with either a 204 PS or a 258 PS 2-litre turbo-petrol engine. When launched, it’ll be one of the very few convertibles in India, and will rival the BMW Z4. 

Lamborghini Urus SE

On the more performance-oriented side, Lamborghini is set to launch the Urus SE in the second half of August 2024. Revealed recently on a global scale, the Urus SE is the second hybrid in Lamborghini’s current portfolio. It sports changes both for the exterior as well as the interior when compared to the existing Urus S. But the main change is that it is powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, which is coupled with an electric motor, producing a combined 800 PS/950 Nm. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of 312 kmph. It even has a pure EV mode for a distance of up to 60 km, courtesy of its 25.9kWh battery pack

Lamborghini Urus SE
