If you are in the market for a new car this month, you have quite a few good options; including CNG automatics, a sportier variant of a popular SUV, and a facelift of a compact SUV. Let us take a look at the aforementioned cars in some more detail:
The Tiago will be the first CNG hatchback in India to get an automatic option. Customers will hence get the convenience of automatics along with the low running cost, thanks to the CNG. Back in 2023, Tata updated the Tiago with the company’s twin-cylinder technology which utilises two smaller CNG tanks instead of one larger unit for better packaging. Tata is also expected to launch the AMT option on the Tigor CNG variants as well.
In terms of powertrain, the Tiago gets a 1.2-litre triple-cylinder engine good for 73.5 PS and 95 Nm in CNG mode. It will be paired with a 5-speed AMT gearbox.
The Tata Tiago gets key features like a 7-inch touchscreen system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a semi-digital driver’s display and automatic AC. Meanwhile, the safety features include two front airbags, rear parking camera with sensors and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
In terms of pricing, we can expect the AMT variants to carry a premium of around Rs 50,000 over the equivalent MT trim. Tata will launch the Tiago CNG AMT in XTA, XZA NRG, XZA+ and XZA+ Dual tone variants

Like the Tiago CNG AMT, the Tigor too will get the same powertrain option. The Tigor CNG already comes with Tata’s unique twin-cylinder technology that allows better space utilisation thanks to two smaller CNG tanks instead of a single large one.
The Tigor comes with a 1.3-litre 3-cylinder petrol motor good for 73.5 PS and 95 Nm when running on CNG. This engine will be paired with a 5-speed AMT gearbox.
The Tigor CNG AMT will get features like a semi-digital driver’s display, automatic AC, and a 7-inch touchscreen system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. Safety features include dual front airbags, rear parking camera with sensors, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
When it comes to price, AMT variants usually carry a premium of Rs 50,000 over the equivalent MT trim, hence Tata could adopt the same policy with the Tigor AMT CNG. The CNG sedan will be available in XZA and XZA+ trims.
Just a while back, Hyundai updated the Creta with new exterior and interior changes. The popular SUV got a new face as well as some new features on the inside. Now, the Korean carmaker is expected to launch the sportier N Line variant of the Creta. The Creta N Line will join the Venue and i20, which already have the N Line trims on sale.
While the Creta N Line will get visual changes to distinguish it from the regular models, Hyundai will likely offer the existing 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with a choice of manual or automatic transmission options. For reference, the engine develops 160 PS and 252 Nm, and could be paired with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT gearbox in the N Line version. The standard car only gets the option of the DCT.
The Creta N Line will get features like the dual 10.25-inch screens, panoramic sunroof, two-zone climate control, wireless phone charging, and ventilated seats. In terms of safety features, the SUV is likely to get six airbags, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Mahindra is gearing up to launch the facelifted XUV300 soon. It has already been spotted testing on our roads with few changes on the outside as well as inside. The major updates include C-shaped LED DRLs along with a full-width lightbar at the rear. It remains to be seen if the Indian carmaker plans to launch the car in February itself or at a later date.

It could get the revised interiors from the XUV400 PRO variants and could pack new features like ventilated seats, a bigger touchscreen, a 360-degree camera system and a wireless phone charger. Existing features like a sunroof, automatic climate control, steering-mounted audio controls, cruise control, six airbags, and electronic stability control are likely to be retained.
The XUV300 is likely to retain the same set of engines as before: a 1.2-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel mill with a choice of manual and automatic options.
Summing up, February 2024 has some interesting cars lined up for debut. And, will the entry of automatic CNG variants by Tata pave the way for other manufacturers? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
