The Indian automotive space has been on a full swing with many auto manufacturers bringing in new products for the market before the upcoming festive season. In this article, we list down all the car launches that have happened in the first half of the month of August 2024.
Nissan India introduced the 2024 X-Trail in the Indian market, priced at Rs 49.92 lakh (ex-showroom). This new model marks the return of the X-Trail moniker to India after nearly ten years.The new X-Trail is available in a fully-loaded, single variant and will be sold in limited numbers as it is brought in via the CBU route. Customers can choose from three color options: black, silver, and white.
The vehicle is equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen, a panoramic sunroof, and seven airbags, ensuring a blend of comfort and safety. Under the hood, the X-Trail is powered by a 163 PS and 300 Nm 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, paired with a CVT. Read all about it here.
Tata Motors has officially launched the much-awaited Tata Curvv EV in India, with a starting price of Rs 17.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The Curvv EV is available in three main trims: Creative, Accomplished, and Empowered, each offering various sub-variants. This electric vehicle features a striking design that includes a connected lighting setup, a sloping roofline, and flush door handles.
Inside, the dashboard design is reminiscent of the Tata Nexon but features a unique color scheme. The Curvv EV is equipped with top-tier features like a powered tailgate, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated and powered front seats and a panoramic sunroof.
The vehicle comes with two powertrain options: 45 kWh battery pack (Medium Range) and 55 kWh battery pack (Long Range), boasting an impressive claimed range of up to 585 km. Read all about it here.
The Mercedes-Benz CLE has made its debut in India as a stylish drop-top model, drawing design cues from the C-Class, but still maintaining a distinct identity. It has been launched at Rs 1.10 crore (ex-showroom). Its unique appearance is highlighted by a horizontal grille, sleek LED daytime running lights, a long bonnet, and a low-slung stance that adds to its character. This two-door convertible features a 2+2 seating arrangement, offering both style and practicality.
Powering the CLE Cabriolet is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 258 PS and 400 Nm, assisted by a mild-hybrid unit that provides an additional 23 PS and 205 Nm. This powertrain is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, enabling the vehicle to reach an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph. Read more here.
The GLC 43 Coupe, sitting atop the standard GLC SUV range in India, receives an AMG upgrade that ups its sporty character. Compared to the standard GLC Coupe, it features a panamericana grille with vertical chrome slats, sleek LED daytime running lights, 21-inch alloy wheels, and a quad exhaust system – all contributing to its dynamic appeal.
Under the hood, it gets powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo petrol engine, sourced from the AMG C-Class, producing 421 PS and 500 Nm. This power is transmitted to all four wheels through a 9-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, a 48V hybrid assist adds an extra 13 PS, enabling the GLC 43 Coupe to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.8 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph. Citroen has officially launched the Basalt SUV coupe in India, with a starting price of Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This new model is available in three trims: You, Plus, and Max, and comes in a variety of seven color options, including five monotone and two dual-tone shades. The Basalt sports an SUV coupe design that draws certain elements from the C3 and C3 Aircross models.
Inside, it features a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, and automatic climate control for enhanced comfort. Under the hood, buyers have the choice between an 82 PS 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 110 PS 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine. Lamborghini launched the Urus SE in India, priced at Rs 4.57 crore (ex-showroom), marking a significant addition to its lineup as the brand continues to embrace electrification. Despite the shift towards hybrids, the Urus SE still boasts a powerful 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 plug-in hybrid powertrain, offering a pure electric range of up to 60 km and a top speed of 130 kmph in EV mode with the help of its 25.9 kWh battery pack
The exterior of the Urus SE features updated LED headlights, sleek LED tail lights, and a cleaner tailgate design with the number plate now integrated into the diffuser. Inside, the cabin sees subtle enhancements, including a redesigned dashboard, restyled air vents, a bigger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. With these updates, Lamborghini’s hybrid models now outnumber their pure combustion counterparts, signaling a new era for the Italian brand. Read more about it here.
Mercedes-Benz India launched the GLE 300d in the sportier AMG Line trim, priced at Rs 97.85 lakh (ex-showroom). This new variant replaces the previously available base-spec GLE 300d, making the AMG Line standard for all GLE models in the country.
Previously, the AMG Line was exclusive to the more powerful 450 petrol and diesel variants. Along with AMG-specific design cues, it also gets the latest version of the MBUX infotainment system , and larger front disc brakes have been added for improved stopping power. Read all about it here.
