Hyundai Creta: Which Engine Is For Who?

The 2024 Hyundai Creta facelift has just been launched with India-specific design treatment inside and out. It was a long time coming, but there’s still one iteration of the compact SUV due for a launch, which will come in the form of its N Line guise. There isn’t any confirmation yet, but there are hints in the packaging, suggesting a sportier derivative should be on the cards.
And if the hints aren’t enough; the numbers should be, given that the i20 N Line and Venue N Line had combined sales of over 10,000 units in 2023 itself. That’s a significant number for a sporty variant of a vehicle. So the Creta N Line just makes sense doesn’t it? So while we anticipate a launch in the near future, we take a look at what you can expect from the Creta N Line if and when it launches:
Every N Line treatment begins with the cars being given a sportier look. Changes at the front can come in the form of a revised grille and a sharper bumper comprising a front lip with red inserts.

The red inserts will follow all around the car, while you can expect sportier, larger 18-inch alloys. The red treatment is also likely to be given to the brake callipers, which is a signature not just for N Line variants, but for the whole automotive industry alike (colouring the callipers for denoting a performance avatar).

The rear could witness changes via a tweaked bumper with a diffuser-like element and the dual exhaust tips that emit a throatier note.
While we don’t expect any changes to the dashboard design itself, there could be splashes of red ambient lighting throughout the cabin. But the biggest change will likely come in the form of an all-black theme, which is something currently missing from the standard Creta’s interior theme options and something that was earlier offered with the turbo-petrol variant. Probably, reserved exclusively for the N Line? Well, only time can tell us.

It could also get the sportier three-spoke N Line steering wheel and gear knob which we’ve seen in the i20 N Line as well.
There shouldn't be any new feature additions, considering that the standard Creta is already a rather well-loaded package. You can check out the 2024 Creta’s variant-wise features here.
While N Line models get an uprated engine and tweaked mechanicals internationally, the India-specific models only make do with the latter. And yet, that’s enough to make the cars handle better and offer a sportier experience.
The tweaks come in the form of the revisions to the suspension and steering geometry alongside a slight tweak to its exhaust note, all done to make the driving experience more involving. As for the engine, the N Line should be offered with the new 160PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, which already packs a punch.

In the standard car, the turbo-petrol is available with a sole 7-speed DCT gearbox, but the N Line variant could and should introduce a manual option for the enthusiasts.
Considering the price difference between the existing N Line models (Venue and i20) and their corresponding standard iterations, you can expect a price bump of anywhere between Rs 1 to Rs 3 lakh, depending on the variant in question. The standard 2024 Hyundai Creta retails between Rs 10.99 lakh and Rs 20.14 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom). It takes on the likes of the Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, MG Astor, Tata Harrier, Honda Elevate, and select variants of the Mahindra XUV700.
