Honda’s launches in 2022 felt rather lukewarm as there were no two-wheelers that really set our hearts racing. However, it seems like 2023 will be more promising as we expect the Japanese company to introduce multiple motorcycles and scooters in the country.
What is hands down the most exciting bike for us enthusiasts is the Honda Transalp. It made a comeback this year in a modern avatar. Unveiled at EICMA this year, we expect it to make its way to our shores sometime towards the end of the year around the Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom) mark.
Honda confirmed that it will launch an electric two-wheeler earlier this year. It’s likely to use the existing platform of the bulletproof Activa 6G and Activa 125, with some changes in order to accommodate the new powertrain. While the Honda Activa Electric is slated to be launched in 2024, chances that it could be launched in 2023 cannot be ruled out. It could be priced around Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom).
Honda also revealed its plans to introduce an affordable motorcycle in the 100-110cc commuter segment. While the brand already has the CD110 Dream in its lineup, at Rs 70,315, it’s quite expensive for what it has to offer. To know what direction Honda might take to develop its upcoming commuter, check out our analysis here. With this, Honda will be able to take the fight to the Hero Splendor Plus and Hero HF Deluxe.
Those seeking a 500cc parallel-twin engine’s performance in a versatile package should look out for the Honda CB500F. It was displayed at a Honda BigWing dealership in Bangalore this year, hinting at the possibility of its launch. Expect it to be priced at around Rs 4.8 lakh (ex-showroom). Once here it’ll rival the QJ Motor SRK 400 and will be a more powerful alternative to the KTM 390 Duke.
Unveiled at the 2022 Intermot motorcycle fair, the Honda CB750 Hornet is one hell of a looker! With a new parallel-twin heart, premium underpinnings, features and an aggressive look, this Hornet could surely lure a lot of Indians. That said, like every other premium Honda bike, this too will likely command a premium price tag. We wouldn’t be surprised if Honda asked around Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom) for it.
