Hero MotorCorp had recently launched the Mavrick 440, built on the 440cc engine jointly developed by Hero and Harley-Davidson. The Hero Mavrick 440 is a roadster offering from Hero and it comes with many changes and new features which makes it stand out quite a bit from the Harley-Davidson X440. So the question arises, what makes them different? We will be answering it through this image comparo here.
When it comes to design, both bikes look quite different from each other and have a unique identity.
Coming to the headlight and front section, The Harley X440 features a very compact LED headlight section. The small headlight is housed inside the cowl that extends from the bike’s instrument console.
The Mavrick 440 comes with a chunkier LED projector headlight and the front section as a whole that stands out.
The Harley X440 comes with a turtle-shaped fuel tank similar to the ones seen on higher-capacity motorcycles from Harley’s lineup. While the Mavrick 440 has a beefier tank and it also comes with tank extensions that complements its chunky-looking headlight, giving the bike a very commanding road presence.
Another difference between the two is in the tail section. The Mavrick 440 comes with a raised tail section and a longish looking number plate holder while the Harley X440’s is a bit more compact.
The taillight on the Mavrick is tucked underneath the seat while the one on the Harley is positioned on the fender. The Harley X440 gets split pillion grab rails while the Mavrick 440 comes with a single-piece pillion grabrail.
Lastly, the exhausts used on both bikes are different. The Mavrick 440 comes with one that looks a bit more rugged.
Coming to the engine, both bikes are powered by the same 440cc air/oil-cooled 2-valve single-cylinder engine which produces 27Ps at 6000rpm at and 38Nm at 4000rpmon the Harley. The power figure on the Hero Mavrick is the same but the engine produces 2Nm less torque.
In terms of hardware, both bikes are built on a steel trellis frame and share some parts in common like the brakes. But there are a few differences when it comes to certain components that give both bikes a unique identity.
The first difference that stands out is the suspension, the Harley X440 gets KYB 43mm inverted fork while the Hero Mavrick 440 gets 43mm telescopic fork at front. The rear suspension is similar, with dual shock absorbers that get 7-step preload adjustability.
Another difference is in the wheels, the Harley X440 runs on an 18-inch wheel at front and 17-inch wheel in the rear. The Mavrick 440 runs on 17-inch wheels at both ends.
In terms of features, both bikes couldn’t be more different. The Hero Mavrick 440 comes with a fully digital instrument console that has a lot to offer. The instrument console offers Bluetooth and e-Sim-based connectivity for smartphones which gives a further claimed 35 additional features to the bike, from turn-by-turn navigation to call and SMS alerts, estimated time of arrival, phone battery indicator and remote tracking.
The instrument console on the Harley X440 is a simple and minimalist colour TFT unit which doesn’t offer so many features but has the essentials, like smartphone connectivity and related functionalities such as call and SMS alerts, music control and turn-by-turn navigation.
Both the Hero Mavrick 440 and the Harley X440 are quite similar in terms of performance and underpinnings. But the changes in design and differences in terms of features will make both bikes offer entirely a very different riding experience.
