- The new variant gets a 240mm front disc brake and a 130mm drum brake setup
- The rest of the bike is similar to the drum brake variant
The Hero Splendor Plus Xtec is now available with a disc brake and it is priced at Rs 83,461 (ex-showroom Delhi). This makes the disc brake variant Rs 3,550 more expensive than the drum brake variant.
Compared to the drum brake variant, the only difference in the new variant is that it gets a 240mm front disc brake and a 130mm drum brake setup while the other variant gets 130mm drum brakes at both ends. The rest of the bike has remained unchanged. It is available with three colour options: Black Sparkling Blue, Black Tornado Grey and Red Black. The iconic Splendor styling is accentuated by the stripes on the headlight cowl, fuel tank and side panel.
The Hero Splendor Plus Xtec in the country is powered by a 97.2cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 8.02PS and 8.05Nm. The suspension setup consists of a telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers. It has a wheelbase of 1236mm, ground clearance of 165mm, kerb weight of 113.6kg and a fuel tank capacity of 9.8 litres. The commuter bike gets 80-section tyres with 18-inch wheels at both ends.
In terms of features, the Splendor Plus Xtec disc brake variant gets an LCD instrument console that shows speedometer, odometer, tripmeter, real time mileage indicator, low fuel indicator and fuel gauge readouts. The bike also gets Bluetooth connectivity for call and SMS alerts. Other features include an LED DRL on the headlight cowl, side stand engine cut off and Hero’s i3S idle start-stop technology, which shuts off the engine whenever the bike comes to a haltand starts idling. This helps in improving the mileage of the bike, especially when one has to stop at traffic signals. The engine can be turned back by simply pulling on the clutch lever.
The addition of the disc brake should improve the braking performance of the Splendor Plus Xtec significantly. It has also made the bike even more appealing to potential customers, not that it lacked any appeal in the first place because the Splendor has been the best-selling bike in the country for a lot of years now. It rivals the likes of the Bajaj CT110X, Honda CD110 Dream, TVS Radeon and TVS Sport.
