Hero MotoCorp recently launched the feature-packed Splendor Plus Xtec in the commuter motorcycle segment, and we have ridden it. But, how does it fare against the TVS’ workhorse - the Radeon, in terms of performance?
Acceleration |

TVS Radeon |
0-40kmph |
4.19 seconds |
3.32 seconds |
0-60kmph |
8.51 seconds |
6.89 seconds |
0-80kmph |
16.38 seconds |
13.98 seconds |
30-70kmph |
10.09 seconds |
7.88 seconds |
40-80kmph |
13.8 seconds |
12.43 seconds |
As it can be seen on the table above, the TVS Radeon is significantly quicker than the Splendor in all of our acceleration tests. This is courtesy of the TVS Radeon’s slightly larger 109cc engine which produces 8.19PS and 8.7Nm, giving it the edge over the Splendor Plus’ 97.2cc engine producing 8PS and 8.05Nm.
Even in the roll-on acceleration, the Radeon manages to beat the Splendor without much hesitation, that too, with a decent margin.

60-0kmph |

The TVS Radeon comes with either a disc brake or a drum brake up front, while the Splendor only gets a drum brake as the only option. With the disc, there is no doubt that the Radeon’s braking performance will be better. The Radeon stops a good 1m short of the Splendor when coming to a stop from 60kmph.
Fuel Efficiency |

TVS Radeon |
City FE |
83.2kmpl |
73.68kmpl |
Highway FE |
95.8kmpl |
68.6kmpl |
This is one place where the Splendor comes out as a winner with a fuel efficiency of almost 100kmpl on the highway. Here, the Splendor manages a whopping 28kmpl more than the Radeon and in the city, a significant 10kmpl. This is where the Splendor’s smaller capacity engine really pays off.
The new Splendor Plus Xtec comes packed with segment-first features, which coupled with the reliability of the iconic bike and the incredible mileage make it a very attractive package. But for a more detailed review of the bike, you can head here. That said, the TVS Radeon offers great performance with improved safety (thanks to a disc brake option) compared to the Splendor Plus.
