Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India has begun the year 2025 by starting the pre-bookings for its upcoming electric scooters - Activa e: and the QC1. Both the scooters are expected to launch later this month, with deliveries starting in February, 2025, but in a phased manner starting with Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi first and other cities in the later phases.
Bookings for the Honda Activa e: can be made at select Honda two-wheeler dealerships in Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai. Whereas, the Honda QC1 electric scooter’s bookings are open at Honda’s select dealerships in Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chandigarh. Both the scooters can be booked for just Rs 1,000 each.
With the upcoming Activa e: and the QC1 electric scooters, Honda aims to disrupt the electric scooters market in India. The Japanese manufacturer wants to assert its dominance in the EV segment just like the Activa dominates the sales figures in the petrol scooter segment.
The Activa e: will be a premium electric scooter offering by Honda. It comes equipped with a mid-mounted electric motor which produces 6kW and 22Nm. Honda claims that the scooter can accelerate from 0 to 60kmph in 7.3 seconds. This performance is quite similar to the other 110cc petrol scooters available in the market. It also has 3 ride modes – Econ, Standard, and Sport.
The Activa electric also has two 1.5kWh swappable battery packs, which are claimed to deliver a combined range of around 102km on a single charge or without swapping.
The Honda QC1 electric scooter will be a more affordable one, but has a similar design as the Activa electric. The QC1 comes with a hub-mounted electric motor that generates 1.8kW of peak power, providing it an electronically limited top speed of 50kmph. I gets two ride modes: Standard and Econ.
The Honda QC1 e-scooter gets a fixed 1.5kWh battery pack, which is claimed to deliver a range of 80km on a single charge. It also has a wall-mounted charger which takes only 4.5 hours to charge the fixed battery pack from 0 to 80 percent.
The Honda Activa e: is likely to be priced somewhere around Rs 1.3 lakh. Whereas the QC1 is expected be the more affordable e-scooter and might be priced at around Rs 1 lakh (both prices ex-showroom, including subsidy). Honda says that both the scooters will get a warranty of 3-year or 50,000km. Moreover, the Japanese manufacturer is also providing three free services and free roadside assistance (RSA) for the first 12 months.
