(Update: Honda has launched the H-Smart variant of the Activa 6G. All details in our launch story.)
Following the block-your-date from Honda, we got our hands on an RTO document confirming the launch of the Honda Activa Smart. And, this new variant of the Activa 6G is launching tomorrow. Here is what we know about the upcoming Honda Activa Smart.
Firstly, the Activa Smart comes with anti-theft feature(s). The mention of an anti-theft system for two-wheelers called "H-Smart" on the trademark application by Honda reinforces this possibility. This tech could be similar to the Honda Ignition Security System (HISS) found on high-end Honda bikes like CBR650R, CRF1100L Africa Twin etc.
Next, it is powered by the same 109.51cc engine which powers the Activa 6G, with 7.79PS, and 8.84Nm on tap. Interestingly, as per the homologation document, it is also roughly a kilogram lighter than the Standard and DLX variants, which tip the scale at 106kg, kerb. Factoring this new safety feature, we expect Honda to demand up to Rs 3,000 over the standard top-end DLXtrim, which costs Rs 73,359 (ex-showroom Delhi). It will go up against the TVS Jupiter, Hero Pleasure XTec, and the Hero Maestro Edge 110.
