Quick News Highlights:
- Both dual-sport bikes have been spotted at BigRock Dirtpark, Bengaluru
- The Honda CRF300L was also spotted in India nearly two years ago
- Both bikes are powered by the same 286cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine
The sub-400cc ADV segment has been growing rapidly in India for the past few years. As a result, manufacturers have started taking notice, looking to bring some of their bikes in this segment already sold abroad to India. It looks like Honda might be working on that angle as the Honda CRF300L and the Honda CRF300L Rally were recently spotted at BigRock Dirtpark, Bengaluru.
The Honda CRF300L and the Honda CRF300L Rally are both powered by the same 286cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 27.3PS and 26.6Nm. The major difference between the two is that the CRF300 Rally gets a high-rise handlebar with the LCD instrument console setup above it like a rally bike, a tall windscreen, dual-LED headlight setup, sump guard, and tank extensions.
The Kawasaki KLX230 S was spied testing last month as well. So, the excitement around Japanese manufacturers bringing their sub-400cc adventure bikes to India is pretty high. But, we think that the dual-sport Honda bikes spotted at BigRock Dirtpark were probably imported by some customers directly through Honda. That’s because the Honda CRF300L was also spotted about 2 years ago in a Honda dealership, which sparked rumours of the bike being brought to India even back then. But, after those spy shots, we never got any more details about the bike coming to India. So, unless we get some kind of an official confirmation from Honda regarding this, the chances of the CRF300L and the CRF300L Rally coming to India are slim.
However, if the bikes do come to India, we think they’ll be available through the CBU (Completely Built Up) route. The Yamaha R3 and the MT-03 were launched in India last December through the CBU route as well and got price tags of Rs 4,64,900 and Rs 4,59,900 (both ex-showroom Delhi and similar to their prices in the US market). So, since the Honda CRF300L and CRF300L Rally are priced at $5,449 and $6,199 in the US market, we think the Honda bikes could be priced around the Rs 4.55 lakh and Rs 5.18 lakh mark respectively if brought to India.
