After bringing its updated flagship tourer, the Gold Wing, back to India after a few years in hiatus, Honda has just launched the 2022 version of the Gold Wing Tour in India. In terms of what this new Gold Wing offers, not much has changed over the previous year’s model. But this time around it seems BigWing dealerships will only offer the ‘Tour’ version of the Gold Wing which features a Dual Clutch Transmission and an airbag as standard equipment.
Mechanically, it’s still much the same bike that we got last year. It’s still powered by an 1833cc flat-six motor that’s good for 126-odd horses and 170Nm. The Gold Wing has never been about outright performance, instead offering endless pulling power for the most luxurious touring experience.
Speaking of luxuries, this 2022 model now features a redesigned pillion seat for increased passenger comfort, along with a new material for the seat as well as an upgraded audio system. And let’s not forget a larger trunk that, with a capacity of 61 litres, can accommodate 11 more litres of luggage. The rest of its luxuries such as its 7-inch touchscreen display with built-in Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are unchanged, but the console now features an updated navigation system that allows for adding up to 99 waypoints for thoroughly planning journeys. The all-LED lighting and electrically adjustable windscreen are carried over.
The Gold Wing also boasts a host of electronic rider aids such as Throttle-By-Wire, four rider modes (Tour, Sport, Econ & Rain), Cruise Control, Dual Combined Braking System, Traction Control (HSTC) and Hill Start Assist.
As for pricing and availability, this new 2022 Honda Gold Wing Tour will be available at all seven BigWing Topline dealerships across India for Rs 39.20 lakh (ex-showroom Gurugram). Currently it is available only in one colourway - Gunmetal Black Metallic (which also gets a blacked-out engine) with bookings open right now and deliveries to commence in the next few weeks.
