Hyundai has introduced a new Sportz (O) variant for its premium hatchback, the i20. The move appears to narrow the price gap between the mid-spec Sportz and the top-end Asta variants, which differ by nearly one lakh rupees. Let's delve into details what upgrades it gets for a premium of Rs 35,000 over the Sportz variant.

Under the hood, the Hyundai i20 is only offered with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that delivers combined output of up to 88 PS and 115 Nm. It is offered with both 5-speed manual transmission and CVT-type automatic transmission. Only the sportier i20 N Line gets a turbo-petrol option.

Prices for the Hyundai i20 Sportz (O) variant start atRs 8.73 lakh and go up to Rs 9.78 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the transmission choice and colour tone. It rivals the likes of  Maruti Suzuki BalenoToyota Glanza, and Tata Altroz.
