Korean carmaker Hyundai has updated its bread-and-butter SUV, the Creta, and its three-row version, the Alcazar, with better standard safety features and other small revisions. The updated Creta and Alcazar follow closely behind the Venue SUV, i10 hatchback and Aura sedan that recently received similar safety updates.
For the first time, you’ll be able to get the Creta and Alcazar with six airbags right from the base model. The two SUVs aren’t the first in their segment to offer six airbags as standard though, as the Kia Carens got the feature right from its launch and the Seltos received the same in 2022.
The Hyundai Creta and Alcazar SUVs get the following standard safety features:
Dual front, side and curtain airbags
Stability control (ESP) and stability management (VSM)
Hill start assist
Front and rear disc brakes
ISOFIX child-seat mounts
Highline tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS)
Rear parking sensors and ABS (government-mandated)
Higher-spec variants of the Creta and Alcazar also get the following features:
Rear parking camera with dynamic guidelines
Traction control modes
Keyless entry with request sensor
The Alcazar gets a few more safety features over the Creta, such as front parking sensors, a 360-degree camera and blind-spot view monitor. These features are reserved for higher trims.
Hyundai has updated the Creta and Alcazar’s engines as well. Both SUVs now get an idle start-stop system that turns off the engine when they come to a halt for a certain period. In addition, they are now compliant with RDE (Real driving emissions) norms and can run on E20 fuel.
The Creta gets three engine options – a 115PS 1.5-litre NA petrol engine, 115PS 1.5-litre diesel and a 140PS 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine. The Alcazar gets the same diesel engine option alongside a larger 2-litre NA petrol unit.

The improved Creta goes up against the Seltos, MG Astor, Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq; while the larger Alcazar rivals the Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV700.
