Mahindra had quite the event in South Africa on the occasion of India’s 76th Independence Day with two new hot concept reveals. One of them was the Scorpio N-based Global Pik Up truck, which has got us stoked and not without reason.
The concept, which actually looks almost production-ready, could make its way to India as it’s on the radar for our market and we can’t keep our cool! So until then, we’ll try to find our chill via these 10 images of the pickup truck and drool over its details from head to toe:
At the front, the inspiration from the Scorpio N SUV is undeniable. The headlights take on a similar shape, albeit with different LED elements inside, while the grille has also been reworked with honeycomb mesh-like elements. The lower bumper is made up of the rugged skid plate for the most part, flanked by vertically stacked LED fog lamps.
It isn’t just your average daily driven pickup, as it also gets competent off-roading credentials, accentuated by the contrasting coloured winch and the tow bar, which have been integrated within the rugged skid plate. And if that doesn’t cut it, you also get a massive roof rack with a full-width LED light bar.

Its pickup traits are further highlighted in profile, thanks to the snorkel on the right front fender, allowing it to wade through deep water. The wheel arches are massive and are complemented by chunky off-road tyres wrapped around five-spoke alloy wheels.
To make ingress and egress a lot easier, you get neatly placed contrasting side steps, and given the stance of the Pik Up concept, we bet you’ll be needing them.
The rear styling is a rather conventional take on a pickup truck, with an upright tailgate and chunky bumper. The taillights are rectangular and flank the tailgate, with a small part of it just stretching out towards the rear quarter panel.
Just like at the front, the bumper here gets a heavily clad skid plate, with a spare wheel attached below. And as for spares, there are plenty, given two more can be found resting on its bed.
Its underpinnings are based on the carmaker’s new-gen ladder-on-frame platform, which promises to be more robust and versatile than before. And it isn’t just the platform that’s new, as the mHawk diesel engine underneath the bonnet is also based on new-gen technology. It will still be available with a 6-speed manual and automatic transmission, while power will continue to be delivered to all four wheels via a 4x4 system.
Take a look at the cabin and you’ll be surprised to find out that this is more than just an off-road capable concept. Mahindra is positioning it as a lifestyle vehicle and the same is apparent in the cabin layout and its list of features, which includes a sunroof, connected car technology, an immersive audio system, Level-2 ADAS features, and multiple airbags.
The dashboard layout is largely similar to the Scorpio N, with an identical flattish dashboard and chunky central console – all finished in black, as opposed to the brownish tone of the Scorpio N. That said, you do get red stitching all around the cabin to complement the black cabin hue giving it a sporty vibe. Similarities continue with the 8-inch touchscreen system, flanked by slim vertical air vents, and even the steering wheel shape and design is identical.
Mahindra has confirmed that the Scorpio N-based Pik Up will be launched in pickup-friendly markets (South Africa and Australia)first , but don’t warm up to a potential groan just yet, as an India launch is still on the map. It could be launched around the Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom) mark here, and will rival the Isuzu V-Cross and potentially undercut the Toyota Hilux.
