Since its launch back in June, 2022, the Volkswagen Virtus has managed to carve an image for itself and has cemented its place in the SUV-dominated Indian market. As a result of which, it managed to cross the 50,000 sales units milestone in a span of around 28 months. Ever since its launch in June 2022, Volkswagen has managed to sell around 60 units of the Virtus daily.

The Virtus is Volkswagen’s only sedan currently sold in India. Its sporty design language and sleek looks catch attention, and according to this author, it looks slightly identical to the Audi A4 from the rear. Its sporty design elements are complemented by modern bits like LED headlights and tail lights. The Virtus is known for its fun-to-drive characteristics and a fairly well-equipped cabin featuring all your necessary convenience and safety features.

In terms of equipment, it gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. 8-inch digital driver's display, ambient lighting, sunroof, automatic climate control, cruise control, and powered and ventilated front seats.
Its safety kit comprises 6 airbags as standard, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), a tyre pressure monitoring system, hill hold assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and a reverse parking camera with parking sensors.
The Virtus is available in a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine which makes 115 PS and 178 Nm and a more potent 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine which generates 150 PS and 250 Nm. The Virtus comes with a standard 6-speed manual transmission. Automatic options include a 6-speed torque converter with the 1-litre engine and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission for the 1.5-litre engine.
The Volkswagen Virtus sedan is priced from Rs 11.55 to Rs 19.40 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes with the likes of Honda City, Skoda Slavia and Hyundai Verna.
