The changes in this variant will mostly be on the cosmetic front

  • Exterior add-ons include black inserts on the ORVMs, front grille, window sills and badges, as well as dark grey 19-inch alloy wheels.

  • Cabin receives a black trim, Ebony leather sports seats, and an Ebony headliner.

  • Feature list will likely remain unchanged.

  • It retains the dual-motor all-wheel drive 400PS electric powertrain.

It’s only been over six months since Jaguar launched its debut electric SUV, the I-Pace in India, and the carmaker will be adding another variant to the lineup soon. Called the I-Pace Black, bookings have commenced for this variant.

First revealed in markets abroad in April this year, as the name suggests, the I-Pace Black gets blacked-out cosmetic add-ons. They include a gloss black finish on the front grille, ORVMs, window sills and rear badges. Complementing all this is a special set of 19-inch dark grey alloy wheels.

Inside you’re treated to Ebony leather sports seats, an Ebony headliner and a gloss black finish on the interior panels. It should retain all the bells and whistles from the standard model which includes a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 5-inch climate control screen, digital driver’s display, fixed panoramic roof,  connected car tech, 16-way adjustable front seats with heater and ventilation, and a head-up display.

Passenger safety will be covered by six airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and electronic stability control.

The I-Pace Black will be mechanically unchanged, running a dual-motor all-wheel drive electric powertrain that delivers 400PS of power and 696Nm of torque, juiced by a 90 kWh battery pack. It can do the 0-100kmph sprint in a mere 4.8 seconds.

Now, towards the range, the electric SUV can cover 470km on a single charge according to the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) cycle. It also supports fast charging with 0-80 percent charge in just 45 minutes.

Currently, Jaguar retails the I-Pace at prices ranging from Rs 1.06 crore to Rs 1.12 crore (ex-showroom, India). Expect the new Black variant to come at a slight premium considering the additions it gets.  The I-Pace goes up against the likes of the  Mercedes-Benz EQC and the Audi e-tron and e-tron Sportback.
