Quick News Highlights:

The sub-250cc dual-sport segment in India will get a new exciting entrant in less than a year’s time as the Kawasaki KLX 230 S has been spotted testing in India yet again. The dual-sport bike is already on sale abroad.

Kawasaki KLX 230 S Spied Side Profile

The single-piece grab rail and the saree guard spotted in the earlier spy shots are not available on this bike and the pictures seem to have been taken inside Kawasaki India’s premises. The Kawasaki KLX 230 S gets dual-sport styling with a high-rise fender, fork gaiters, the slim single-piece seat with a tall seat height of 820mm (5mm shorter than the XPulse 200 4V) and a high ground clearance of 238mm (32mm less than the XPulse). In Indonesia, the bike is powered by a 233cc air-cooled two-valve single-cylinder engine that makes 19PS and 19.8Nm. It’s expected to get the same engine in India. The Hero XPulse 200 4V will be its direct rival in India and it is powered by a 199.6cc, air-oil-cooled, 4-valve single-cylinder engine producing 18.9PS and 17.35Nm. While the Kawasaki makes more power from a slightly bigger engine, the Xpulse’s 4-valve head will make it a more free-revving engine.

Kawasaki KLX 230 S Spied Front Three Fourth Profile

The KLX 230 S gets a 37mm telescopic fork with 168mm of wheel travel and a monoshock with 158mm of wheel travel (which is 22mm and 12mm respectively less than the Xpulse 200 4V). The braking setup consists of 240mm front and 220mm rear petal disc brakes with dual-channel switchable ABS. The dual-sport bike gets 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels and a kerb weight of 134kg, which is 25kg less than that of the Xpulse.

In terms of features, the Kawasaki KLX 230 S gets an LCD instrument console with aspeedometer, an odometer, a trip meter, adigital clock, and a fuel gauge. The bike is expected to be heavily localised in India and as such, could have a price tag between Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 2.7 lakh (ex-showroom). This will make it the most affordable dual-sport bike from a Japanese manufacturer in India. It is expected to be launched in early 2025.
