Quick News Highlights:
The Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX is a capable and one of the most loved sports tourer in the Indian market. It is popular because of its refined engine, performance, reliability, and accessible price tag. Now, Kawasaki is planning to replace the Ninja 1000SX with a bigger Ninja 1100SX, which is expected to launch in India very soon.
The most significant update on the Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX is the bigger 1,099cc, liquid-cooled, inline-four engine, as compared to the smaller 1,043cc engine of the current Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX. To achieve this, Kawasaki tuned the bike’s engine with a longer 59mm stroke, compared to the Ninja 1000SX’s 56mm stroke. The bore remains the same at 77mm.
With the new engine, the Ninja 1100SX produces 137.8PS and 113Nm, which is 4PS less and 2Nm more than the Ninja 1000SX. However, the peak power and torque now come earlier in the rev range, providing a smoother power delivery. The Ninja 1100SX also gets longer 5th and 6th gear.
The Ninja 1100SX also gets a more refined bi-directional quickshifter, which Kawasaki claims would increase low-end performance and better mileage. The Bridgestone S22 tyres on the 1000SX are now replaced by the latest S23 tyres.
The Ninja 1100SX still looks the same as the Ninja 1000SX. It also gets the same underpinnings and features as the outgoing bike. The Ninja 1100SX features the same electronics package as the outgoing Ninja 1000SX as well, including traction control, switchable ABS, bi-directional quickshifter, ride modes, power modes, and a cruise control feature. The 1100cc Ninja now also gets a type C port as standard. It gets a 10.9cm TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity.
We expect the Ninja 1100SX to get a price hike of around Rs 75,000 to Rs 1,00,000 over the existing Ninja 1000 which was priced at Rs 12.19 lakh (ex-showroom, India) before it got discontinued. The bike will likely be launched in India very soon within the next few weeks. Kawasaki plans to launch the Ninja 1100SX for now and has no plans to bring the higher-spec SE variant, which comes with Brembo M4.32 front brakes and an Öhlins rear shock.
