Similar to what Toyota did with the Innova Crysta and Hycross, Kia could also offer two versions of the Carens MPV

After a busy 2024, especially in the premium segment, Kia has now shifted focus back to the mass market segment in 2025! The Korean automaker is all set for the launch of the Syros (on February 1), which will be followed by the Carens facelift and Carens Electric. Both new versions of the Carens are expected to hit the markets by mid-2025 and will be sold alongside the current iteration. More importantly, the facelift is also expected to get a new name.

Kia’s Strategy

We have seen multiple car brands continue to sell the existing version alongside the newer version. This strategy makes the car more accessible to a wider range of buyers and also gives a competitive advantage. Carens is an MPV which also has a great demand in the fleet market which makes us believe that Kia would focus on selling the current version of the Carens in that particular market and also to buyers seeking a three-row SUV for a low cost of purchase. On the other hand, the facelifted Carens will be offered as a more premium and sophisticated MPV.

Kia Carens Facelift: What To Expect?

The Kia Carens facelift is expected to be introduced with a new name, it will still be called the Carens, but will carry a suffix and the facelifted version will also get an electric iteration. In short, we can expect Kia to sell three different versions of the Carens by the second half of this year!

Now answering the question asked above, the facelifted version of the Carens will bring significant changes to the design of the MPV. One can expect a new grille, a new design for the alloy wheels and a slightly more muscular look.

Not just in terms of design, the interior of the facelift will also receive major revisions. It is expected to get a new dashboard design and layout and a host of new features which will make it more premium and desirable. It is expected to get larger screens, front and rear ventilated seats, powered seats, dual-zone climate control, rear entertainment screens, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof and level-2 ADAS.

While we do have 5-seater electric SUVs in India, we do not have many three-row EVs, especially in the mass market segment. The Carens EV will hope to capture the electric MPV market. To know more about the same, head over to this story

Price And Rivals

The facelifted Carens is expected to carry a premium over the current model which is priced from Rs 10.59 lakh (ex-showroom). It could be priced from around Rs 11.5 lakh. It will give tougher competition to the likes of the Toyota Innova Crysta and Hyundai Alcazar while also tussling with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, XL6 and Toyota Rumion
