Back at the 2023 Auto Expo, Kia showcased its three-row SUV, the purpose-built Carens MPV, modified for emergency services in our country. Among them, one was tailored for the police force, and now the automaker has delivered 71 of these specially customised vehicles to the Punjab Police. Primary focus of these purpose-built Carens lies in the additional modifications they offer. It features high-intensity strobe lights that produce regular flashes and is switched on during an emergency. Additionally, they are equipped with personal assistance systems (PA system) and 'Dial 112 - Emergency Response Vehicle' decals on the exterior.
The vehicles also come equipped with a 60 Ah battery to ensure the smooth functioning of the additional fitted equipment. It is powered by 115 PS 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with 6-speed manual transmission.
Earlier, the purpose-built Carens displayed at the 2023 Auto Expo featured additional technology such as a messaging board on the roof, which could be particularly helpful during highway accidents. It also included a Citizens Band (CB) radio for communication purposes. But do note that these are purpose built vehicles and they can be customised as per the requirement.
