Kia has just wrapped up celebrations for its inaugural EV day in Korea as the carmaker revealed two new concepts along with releasing the specifications for the EV5 SUV. One of the two concepts, called the EV3 SUV concept, could be a whiff of what we can expect from the new-gen Seltos SUV.
Yes, the facelifted Seltos has just launched in the country, and it won’t be replaced anytime soon. And even the EV3 is far from production ready, but it does drop hints at what we can expect from the new Seltos. For starters, the two have very similar dimensions and even the styling on the EV3 seems to be a thorough modern evolution of the current Seltos.
The front has a similar vibe, despite the closed-off nose on the EV3. But similarities can be seen in the way the turn indicators are designed. Even in profile, the windowline seems somewhat similar. That said, the squared-out wheel arches filled up by the swanky alloy wheels look like proper concept stuff.
The rear also shares a few similarities with the LED taillights of the EV3, which look like a sleeker version of the current Seltos’ connected LED taillights. A case could also be made for the likeness between their bumper designs.

However, drawing parallels between their interiors would be a bit far-fetched, considering the EV3’s cabin leans heavy on minimalism and sustainability. Powertrain specifications for the EV3 haven’t been divulged yet, but it is an all-electric concept, and could get a claimed range of around 300km.
Do note that these are just speculations, as the carmaker hasn’t revealed any correlation between the two. But as the world transitions towards cleaner mobility solutions, the next Seltos could well be an electric one and the EV3 concept seems to be the closest interpretation. Also, you can expect the ICE version to be sold alongside the all-electric model, if it makes it to production.

The current one continues with its multiple powertrain options which include both petrol and diesel. The carmaker retails it between Rs 10.89 lakh and Rs 20.29 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelifted Kia Seltos competes with the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, Tata Harrier, MG Hector, and the five-seater variants of the Mahindra XUV700.
