Lotus is all set to strengthen its footprints in India in 2025 by adding two new very exciting cars, the Emira and Emeya! In 2023, Lotus introduced the Eletre, which is a powerful electric luxury SUV capable of giving some other popular SUVs a run for their money. The Emira is a two-door sports car and is the automaker’s final internal combustion-only offering. The Emeya is an all-electric roadster that comes with dual motors capable of offering breathtaking performance!
Without further ado, here is a closer look at both these cars:
The Emira is the British automaker’s only two-door ICE-powered sportscar, and will be available in two versions in India — Emira First Edition and Emira V6 First Edition. Being a sports car, it would be fair first to discuss the heart of the matter, the engine!
The Emira is expected to be offered with both, a supercharged 3.5-litre V6 engine and a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-four motor sourced from Mercedes-AMG (also powers the A45). The V6 can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission, while the Merc-sourced unit can only be used with an 8-speed DCT.
The First Edition produces 370 PS and 430 Nm, and claims a 0-100 kmph time of 4.4 seconds. However, if you want something even more powerful, you can choose the V6 version which churns out 411 PS and 420 Nm and goes from nought to 100 kmph in slightly quicker 4.3 seconds. The V6 iteration maxes out at 290 kmph.
The Emira looks gorgeous, to say the least! It takes design cues from its more powerful sibling, the Evija hypercar. The Emira sports vertical LED headlamps that get a twin-blade design. The beautiful sports car has 20-inch alloy wheels that bode well with the stylish design. Furthermore, you get sharp lines all over along with the contoured scoops that add a nice touch to the overall design and also aid in cooling the engine. The rear end also has plenty of going on, but everything still looks pretty well done and neat!
The cabin exudes sportiness with a premium touch! The interior looks inviting and has kept up with the modern-day trends of large screens. The chunky flat-bottom steering wheel is what caught my attention the most, as it complements the sporty attributes of the car. For an even sportier appeal, you can opt for the sports seats that can be electrically adjusted in 12 ways!
The displays include a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additionally, you also get a 10-speaker sound system, ambient lighting, rear parking sensors (front optional), ADAS, and rain-sensing wipers.
The all-electric Emeya roadster is expected to be available in 3 variants, the Emeya, Emeya S and Emeya R, respectively. The Emeya features a 102 kWh battery pack, offering a maximum claimed range of 610 km. Here is a detailed look at its specifications:

The Emeya has its own unique design and styling, making it look very modern and sporty at the same time. The headlights look sleek and the bumper is aggressively styled and looks sharp. You get flush door handles which look neat and striking 21-inch alloy wheels, on the top-of-the-line Emeya R. The LED taillights are connected and the bumper looks like the blacked-out elements in the lower section of the bumper add a nice contrast.
The interior is another aspect where the Emeya shines and feels like a step up from older Lotus models. The cabin gets carbon fibre materials at multiple places and features a strip of ambient lighting running across the dash. The dual-tone scheme of the cabin clubbed with a large centre screen (15.1-inch) and a lovely flat-bottom steering wheel makes the cabin a place to be in! Other top features include multi-colour ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera, ADAS, front and rear parking sensors, a 15-speaker audio system, and a wireless phone charger.
The Lotus Emira is expected to be priced from around Rs 1.7 crore (ex-showroom), while the Emeya’s prices could be anywhere around the Rs 3 crore mark and will probably sit beneath the bigger SUV, the Eletre. The Emeya would face competition from the likes of Audi RS e-tron GT and Porsche Taycan and the Emira would be an alternative to the Porsche 911 Carrera.
