Mahindra has released the sales numbers for the Scorpio, one of its popular models, for the month of May 2024. The Mahindra Scorpio is available in two broad versions: the previous-gen Scorpio Classic and the new Scorpio N. And in this report, we are going to look at which version of the Scorpio – the diesel or petrol – was more popular in India in May 2024.
In total, Mahindra sold 12,611 units of the Scorpio in May 2024. That’s a decrease of 1,090 units when compared to April. Here’s a look at the sales number of the Mahindra Scorpio in May:

Compared to last month, 92 percent of the customers preferred the diesel variants of the Scorpio, a two percent increase.
Petrol sales dwindled this time around, with just 8 percent of buyers picking it up.
Overall, the Mahindra Scorpio has seen a 7 percent decline in May sales when compared to April.
The Mahindra Scorpio Classic is basically a refreshed version of the previous-gen model to keep it relevant in the market.
Top features onboard include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment (no Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), automatic climate control, steering-mounted audio controls, cruise control, power windows, power windows, remote locking, dual airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors.
You just get one engine with the Mahindra Scorpio Classic: a 132PS 2.2-litre diesel engine, driving the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.
The Mahindra Scorpio N is the latest generation of the popular SUV nameplate, packing in more modern looks, an upmarket cabin, plentiful features and even a petrol engine option.

Top features here include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12-speaker Sony sound system, a single-pane sunroof, dual-zone climate control, six airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear cameras and electronic stability control.
Engine options include a 203PS 2-litre turbo-petrol engine or a 2.2-litre diesel engine in two states of tune: 132PS and 175PS. A 6-speed manual is offered as standard, while the turbo-petrol and more powerful diesel engine can be had with a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The Scorpio N is primarily rear-wheel drive, with the 175PS diesel engine getting optional four-wheel drive.
The Mahindra Scorpio Classic is priced from Rs 13.62 lakh to Rs 17.42 lakh, while the Scorpio N costs from Rs 13.85 lakh to Rs 21.12 lakh (ex-showroom). Both these models are body-on-frame SUV alternatives to the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Honda Elevate, Tata Harrier and MG Hector.
