Maruti Fronx Beats A VW Virtus? Here’s A List Of All Cars The Fronx Is Quicker Than

The Maruti Fronx marked the comeback of the enthusiast-friendly boosterjet engine back to Maruti’s lineup. It was seen inside the first-gen Baleno RS before this and is a proper pocket rocket. It is in fact the quickest Maruti we’ve ever tested, and to put that into perspective, here’s a list of cars that the Fronx beats, beyond its segment. Buckle up, this might pack a punch and a few surprises!

The Maruti Fronx is clearly the most underpowered here, save for its slightly better torque output in comparison to the Maruti Grand Vitara/Toyota Hyryder mild-hybrid powertrain. But despite the competition sitting in a different segment altogether, the Fronx’ numbers don’t look out of place and you’ll be surprised by how it actually puts that power down in the performance test.

Performance test

• Despite the power deficit, the Fronx is quicker in the sprint from 0-100kmph than the rest of these vehicles.

• It’s even quicker in the quarter mile test, clocking it in 17.31 seconds, while doing 129.14kmpl. The next closest thing is the Virtus MT with a time of 17.65 seconds.

• However, things take a U-turn in the braking test, which is won by the Honda Elevate. The Fronx came in second-last here.

Price and verdict

When you see the amount of performance on tap, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx looks like a steal. But moving past the performance, all these vehicles sit in different segments – ones that are placed higher than the Fronx’s. As a result, their experience as a whole is completely different with more space and focus on the quality of material and features used. 

So while the Fronx might be a pocket rocket with smile inducing traits, these other vehicles might offer a better experience as a whole, while matching it nearly in terms of performance. Most of these even have a bigger, more powerful engine option on offer, but that comes at an even higher price. Either way, kudos to Maruti for bringing back the boosterjet engine to India.
