In its ongoing efforts to widen its CNG portfolio, the Maruti Fronx has now been included in the alternative fuel option lineup and is the 15th Maruti model to get it. The Baleno-based crossover SUV has been launched with the CNG option only in its lower-spec variants which are priced from Rs 8.41 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Maruti is also offering it on a subscription basis at an all-inclusive monthly rate of Rs 23,248.
Here’s a look at how it is priced:
Variant |
Price |
Sigma CNG |
Rs 8.41 lakh |
Delta CNG |
Rs 9.27 lakh |
Compared to the corresponding petrol-manual variants, the CNG trims are priced at a premium of Rs 95,000.
Maruti has plonked the same 1.2-litre petrol engine (77.5PS/98.5Nm) from the Baleno CNG under the Fronx CNG’s hood. It even gets the same 5-speed manual transmission, and has a claimed fuel efficiency of 28.51km/kg. For reference, the Baleno CNG offers a claimed fuel mileage of 30.61km/kg, the increased economy is likely thanks to its slipperier design. The same engine in regular petrol guise puts out 90PS and 113Nm, and also gets a 5-speed AMT option.
The better-equipped variants of the Fronx come with a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine making 100PS/148Nm. Its transmission options are either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.
