The carmaker has enjoyed inimitable success in the country since it began operations in 1983

It's no surprise that Maruti Suzuki comes up to be the only Indian marque to cross the 25 million (2.5 crore) passenger vehicle production mark. The carmaker is one of the oldest in the country, which came out with its first product, the classic Maruti 800 in 1983. It soon became a household name in the country and after that, there was no looking back for Maruti.

To this date, the marque is the number one undisputed carmaker in terms of market share in India. It has two manufacturing facilities, located in Gurugram and Manesar, capable of clocking together 1.5 million (15 lakh) units annually. In addition, another factory is in the works in Kharkhoda, Haryana, which will further boost the brand’s annual production capacity.

A total of 16 models currently make up Maruti’s portfolio including both Arena and NEXA models. Some of them are also exported to around 100 markets worldwide. The carmaker also has the largest lineup of CNG models in the country. In addition to that, Maruti is preparing to launch exciting new models like the five-door Jimny, which could see the return of the Gypsy moniker in the country.
