There’s a new model from the house of Mercedes-Benz. Meet the new CLE coupe and cabriolet, a brand new model that replaces the C-Class and E-Class cabriolet and coupe in the carmaker’s lineup. So yes, it’s a standalone model that now goes up against the likes of the BMW 4 Series and Audi A5. Here are five facts you need to know about this brand new model:
Mercedes has nailed the CLE’s styling, as it looks gorgeous! You get the familiar Mercedes grille up front, flanked by a pair of sleek LED headlights and an aggressive bumper. The sides give off proper grand tourer vibes, with the long bonnet and sloping roofline. Also, the 21-inch spoked wheels, with dollops of chrome, add bling to the design. This author loves it!
It’s only at the rear that might be a hit or a miss, at certain angles. The sloping roofline meets a bulbous tailgate featuring sleek tail lamps and a rear bumper with faux diffuser and exhaust outlets. Like or hate the design? Let us know in the comments.
That’s because the dashboard design has been lifted off the C-Class without any styling changes. Ain’t a bad thing, though, as the C-Class’ cabin scores high when it comes to sense of occasion. It looks minimalistic thanks to the large 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

And what ups the overall ambience is the splashes of ambient lighting that look wicked, especially as darkness falls. Also, attention to detail can be seen in the exquisite looking turbine-style AC vents lifted off the C-Class, which operate with a satisfying click.
Coupes aren’t generally the best when it comes to interior space and practicality, though the E-Class coupe is one of the comfiest in the market. But the CLE coupe boasts a 25mm longer wheelbase than the C-Class coupe and it’s safe to say most of the space has gone in the rear seats.

Merc claims a 10mm increase in headroom, 19mm in shoulder and elbow room, and most importantly, a 75mm increase in legroom. We can put these claims to the test once we get our hands on it.
At launch, the Mercedes CLE will come with a handful of four- and six-cylinder engines, all mild-hybrid. While a 9-speed automatic is standard across the range, four-wheel-drive is offered depending on the powertrain you choose. To make life easier, we have compiled the specifications in a table below:

Later down the line, Mercedes will also be bringing plug-in hybrid powertrains to the CLE. And it goes without saying that you can expect the raging AMG variants to come in as well.
There’s no word on this yet. But considering Mercedes’ aggressive push to bring new models in India, it’s safe to say that the CLE could make its way here, probably sometime in 2024 as it will start going on sale in global markets later this year. So stay tuned for further updates!
