The SUV is set to make its global premiere in India on April 27, 2023

  • The upcoming Citroen SUV has been spied with alloy wheels.

  • The 7-seater SUV is visibly much longer than the C3 with distinct design cues.

  • Likely to be powered by the C3’s 110PS turbo-petrol engine, available with an automatic transmission option.

  • Will be globally premiered on April 27, launch expected around mid-2023.

With its debut due later this month on April 27, the Citroen compact SUV’s test mules seem to be shedding their camouflage bit by bit. The latest spy shot shows the SUV’s side profile, and for a change, the test mule is wearing cool-looking alloy wheels instead of steel wheels.

Citroen SUV is longer than C3

The upcoming Citroen SUV is based on a platform shared with the existing C3 hatchback. But while it’ll get some design similarities to the C3, it’s an all-new SUV with a wider stance and is longer than the hatchback.

In the spy shot, the SUV seems to have an upright yet sleek stance with a visibly longer rear door and overall length than the C3 hatchback. That extra length will accommodate a third row of seats similar to the Renault Triber.

European Citroen C3 roof design

The SUV also has 4-split-spoke, dual-tone alloy wheels that look cool despite the camouflage. The bumps on the roof could be a part of the camouflage, but alternatively, they could be design elements similar to the roof design of the European C3 hatchback.

At the rear, the SUV will get an upright tailgate and C3-inspired LED taillights.

Powertrain and features

We could see Citroen’s 110PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine under the bonnet of the upcoming SUV, possibly in a higher 130PS state of tune. It’ll be paired with a six-speed manual as standard, but there should also be an automatic transmission on offer.

Citroen C3 interior for representation only

In terms of features, the upcoming SUV should get a segment-par kit including a rear washer and wiper, up to six airbags, a rear parking camera, stability control and the nice 10-inch touchscreen from the C3.

The upcoming Citroen SUV should go on sale around mid-2023 after its global premiere on April 27. It’ll go up against SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, MG Astor and Maruti Grand Vitara; also offering an alternative to the Kia Carens and Maruti XL6.
