New Ford Endeavour (Everest) Spied On Indian Roads: Top 5 Things You Should Know

With the internet being bombarded with undisguised spy-shot images of the new-gen Ford Endeavour in India, speculations about Ford re-entering the Indian market are sky high. But before we get any official statement from Ford, here’s a closer look at the highly anticipated Ford Endeavour (or Everest as it’s called in international markets) in five points.

Exterior

The Ford Endeavour retains its muscular, butch and bold silhouette which has been the reason for it to be a superhit in the Indian market. The rounded body styling now makes way for a more streamlined and sharp look, with a muscular front. 

A bigger grille with chrome bar, C-shaped LED light units, and edgier hood lines give the front a dominating look. View it from the side, and it still retains its large proportions with a chrome insert running down the window sills and new design for the alloy wheels that fill up the humongous wheel arches. From the back, the LED lights are sharper than before and are connected via a gloss black strip.

Interior

The Ford Endeavour’s interior design more closely resembles that of American SUVs like the F-150 pickup trucks. What stands out is a completely new dash layout with new steering wheel and centre console featuring a humongous 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is vertically integrated. We reckon the Indian-spec model should retain the third-row seating, increasing its practicality quotient. 

Features

Comfort and convenience features will include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, powered ventilated & heated front seats, 360 degree camera, panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, twelve-speaker B&O music system, powered tailgate, and ambient lighting.

Safety will again be a paramount with 9 airbags, electronic stability control, and another big addition will be of ADAS L2 with Pre-Collision Assist with Intersection Assist, Lane Keeping System with Road Edge Detection, Reverse Brake Assist and Parking Assist. Moreover, adding up to the safety quotient, the Ford Endeavour scores a good 5-star ANCAP safety rating. 

Engine

For the Australian market, Ford retails the Endeavour with 2 different engine options. The top-tier one is a 3-litre V6 turbo-diesel engine producing 250 PS and 600 Nm. It also gets a 2-litre Bi-Turbo diesel engine producing 210 PS and 500 Nm. While the smaller engine gets both rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive, the larger engine is offered only with the latter. Regardless of what you choose, it comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

It remains to be seen which powertrain option Ford brings to the Indian market. Apart from this, the Ford Endeavour will have different driving modes and a locking rear differential for improved off-roading prowess.

Price & Rivals

Once again, we would like to reiterate that the Endeavour’s launch is still speculative and yet to be confirmed. But if brought here, it is expected to be priced at around Rs 55-60 lakh, and will lock horns with premium SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian.
