Facelifted Hyundai i20 N line spied alongside standard i20 model.
Will get slightly reworked front and rear ends as well as new rims.
Red inserts present on the brake callipers and side sills, like the current car.
It should get same engine as the outgoing i20 N Line: a 120PS 1-litre turbo-petrol
Likely to carry a premium over the current i20 N Line which retails between Rs 10.18 and Rs 12.31 lakh (ex-showroom).
It looks like we’re nearing the imminent debut of the facelifted Hyundai i20 in India as the test mules of the premium hatchback keep getting papped on test time and time again. For this edition, we’ve got images of the facelifted i20 N Line alongside the standard car, giving us a few new revelations about what to expect.
The camouflage cleverly hides the front and rear end of the test mules, probably where most of the changes are concentrated if the design of the global-spec i20, which was revealed sometime back, is anything to go by.
Although not visible, you can expect a reprofiled front and rear bumper with tweaked grille, as we saw on the global-spec i20 which dropped covers a few weeks back. But we do get a clean look of the profile, which looks untouched apart from the new design for the alloy wheels. You still get that red insert on the side sills and the front brake caliper while the red hue is continued on the inside in the form of stitching on the seats.
Speaking of the cabin, there is a new steering wheel at the helm and the standard i20 was also spotted with paddle shifters, which the current i20 N Line already gets, probably hinting this is likely to be the turbo-petrol DCT powertrain. Apart from that, it could get revised upholstery and colour scheme as well.
A mid-spec variant of the i20 was also spotted wearing smaller wheels with a deceptive-looking plastic cover.
We don’t expect any changes to be made to the current powertrain options of the i20, which include a 1.2-litre petrol engine (83PS/114Nm) and a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine (120PS/172Nm). A 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT gearbox is paired with the 1.2-litre unit, while the latter comes with a 7-speed DCT. The i20 N Line, on the other hand, only gets the turbo-petrol mill and it is paired to either a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT gearbox.
It also gets a throatier exhaust note, a slightly stiffer suspension set up and a quicker steering rack for a more involving drive experience.
The global-spec facelifted i20 broke cover with new features like a 10.25-inch fully digital driver’s display and ADAS technology. While the latter seems a bit of a stretch for the India-spec model, we reckon it could get the digital driver’s display along with other new equipment like ventilated front seats, ambient lighting and more connected car tech. Features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an air purifier, a wireless phone charger, single pane sunroof, up to six airbags, rear parking sensors, a reverse camera and electronic stability control (ESC) should be retained from the outgoing model.
Being a newer facelifted version, we expect the upcoming i20 to carry a premium over the current prices which range from Rs 7.45 lakh to Rs 11.87 lakh (ex-showroom). It’ll continue to fight it out with the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, and Tata Altroz.
