Mahindra will launch the sporty variant of its subcompact SUV on October 7.
Gets a dual-tone exterior theme with a new Mustard hue and black roof.
Has a spruced up 130PS, 1.2-litre direct injection turbocharged petrol unit.
Likely to command a premium of Rs 50,000 more than its concurrent trim.
Spy shots of the Mahindra XUV300 Sportz have surfaced before as we released the exclusive first undisguised look just a couple of days ago. But, these new images give us the cleanest look at the subcompact SUV yet that is set to be introduced tomorrow.
The unimpeded spy shots reveal the overall silhouette of the subcompact SUV that is similar to the standard XUV300. However, there are a few design revisions to back its ‘Sportz’ tag. The first thing that grabs attention is the exterior hue, which gets a dual-tone theme with a new Mustard colour for the body and blacked roof and ORVMs.
The grille connecting the headlights has a gloss black finish with a touch of red highlight contrasted with similar red highlighters for the lower air intake, flanked by the fog lamps. Mahindra’s new ‘Twin Peaks’ emblem wraps up the changes to its front end.

Although the cabin images are a bit murky, shrouding the changes inside, the XUV300 Sportz gets a dual-tone theme in place of the all-black cabin layout.
Expected to build on the standard model’s top-spec W8 trim, the ‘Sportz’ variant could pack additional features over what it has already which include a seven-inch infotainment system, sunroof, dual-zone AC, cruise control, connected car tech, and leatherette seats. Its safety net should include equipment comprising up to six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, corner braking control and rear disc brakes.
To cement the ‘sporty’ theme of the car, Mahindra will replace the current petrol engine with the new 1.2-litre mStallion TGDi engine that produces 130PS and 230Nm. The AMT option offered with the standard model could also go for a toss, as for the sportier model, Mahindra would likely stick with the manual.
The Mahindra XUV300 Sportz will line up against the recently launched Kia Sonet X Line and the Hyundai Venue N Line. We expect it to command a premium of around Rs 50,000 over the trim it will be based on.
In other related development, a bigger, all-electric iteration of the subcompact SUV, christened the XUV400 will be launched in January 2023.
