Although the Elevate is a global product, the first market of focus for the compact SUV is India itself

  • Honda Elevate teased again ahead of its June 6 debut.

  • Spy shots and teaser hints an upright design with a few rugged elements.

  • Confirmed features include a single-pane sunroof.

  • Could borrow City’s 1.5-litre petrol-only and strong-hybrid powertrain options.

  • Likely to be priced from around Rs 11 lakh onwards.

Honda is truly a real tease when it comes to dropping teasers for upcoming cars. We’ve got another one for the Honda Elevate SUV, just days before its debut on June 6, which reveals the outline of the upper rear part of the SUV. It will be a pivotal offering for Honda in India and will be its first contender against the stalwarts of the compact SUV segment.

Previous teasers and spy shots confirm that we can expect an upright silhouette, which will be a blend of rugged elements as well as modern touches like DRLs and possibly connected taillights. It could even take inspiration from some global Honda products like the new-gen HR-V.

Even though we are less than a week away from its global debut, we still have no clue as to what the Elevate’s cabin will have in store for us. All we know is that there will be a single-pane sunroof onboard, thanks to a previous teaser. In terms of features, it should get a large touchscreen infotainment system, semi-digital instrument cluster, a wireless phone charger, automatic climate control and probably ventilated front seats.

We expect the Elevate to borrow the City’s ADAS suite along with other safety bits like six airbags, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera and ISOFIX child mounts.

Sharing of equipment is also likely to be seen in the Elevate’s powertrain, which could feature the 121PS 1.5-litre petrol and 126PS 1.5-litre strong hybrid options from the compact sedan. Transmission options could include a 6-speed manual transmission for the petrol-only engine and a CVT with both powertrains.

We don’t expect Honda to launch the Elevate the same day as it debuts (June 6), but it should promptly follow soon after. Prices could start from around Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom) and a few dealerships have already started taking bookings for it. The Elevate will go up in the compact SUV space and rival the likes of the Maruti Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and the upcoming Citroen C3 Aircross.
