Toyota is readying the facelifted Glanza for launch in March. The hatchback is based on the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Baleno and gets comprehensive updates such as new front and rear fascias, a redesigned interior, and more features and equipment. It’s expected to start from around Rs 8 lakh onwards (ex-showroom) and rival the Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz.

On the outside, the Glanza is expected to get similarly redesigned front and rear fascias as the Baleno. However, it might bear more visual cues to differentiate it from its platform cousin than the existing Baleno-Glanza pair. Currently, the Glanza is largely identical to the Maruti Baleno except for its different grille design and Toyota badges.

Inside, it’ll get a redesigned interior and dashboard with a floating touchscreen infotainment system and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It’s also expected to get new equipment such as cruise control and even a head-up display that will soon debut as a segment-first feature in the upcoming Baleno.

Existing Toyota Glanza for reference

We will likely see a 1.2-litre Dualjet engine under the new Glanza’s bonnet. It’ll have an idle-start/stop function, and higher-spec models could get a 12-volt mild-hybrid system similar to the existing hatchback. A 5-speed manual will likely be the standard transmission, with automatic options offered on select variants.

The 2022 Toyota Glanza arrives next month as a rival to premium hatchbacks such as the Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz and the Volkswagen Polo.
