The mighty Ford Endeavour, also called the Everest in other countries, is getting attention for its possible return to India. Although it's not certain if and when it will launch, it's important to know that this full-size SUV comes with different features depending on the country it is sold in. In this report, we'll take a closer look at the version of the Endeavour sold in the New Zealand market.
Ford offers two engine options for the Endeavour/Everest in the New Zealand market. The first one is a 3-litre V6 turbo-diesel that makes 250 PS and 600 Nm. The second choice is a smaller 2-litre bi-turbo diesel that produces 210 PS and 500 Nm. Both engines come mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox and with 4-wheel drive (4x4) only. The Endeavour also gets different driving modes and a locking rear differential to help it perform better when driving off-road. While we’d like a big ol’ diesel unit for the Endy in India, the smaller bi-turbo unit might be better for competitive pricing reasons.
The Ford Endeavour comes packed with comfort and convenience features, no matter which country. This New Zealand specification gets wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, a 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, a high-quality 12-speaker B&O sound system, a powered tailgate and ambient lighting. It also gets both heated seats and a heated steering wheel, which of course are left out from the UAE-spec Endeavour.
Comforts limited to the top variant further include the 12.4-inch digital driver’s display, power-folding 3rd row seats, matrix LED headlamps, and the semi-autonomous parking assistant.
Safety is a top priority with 9 airbags, electronic stability control, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) like Pre-Collision Assist, Lane Keeping System, Reverse Brake Assist, Parking Assist, Hill Descent Control (4X4 only), Load Adaptive Control, Roll Over Mitigation, Traction Control and Trailer Sway Control.

The Ford Endeavour in New-Zealand is retailed in three broad trim levels, namely Trend, Sport and Platinum. Ford offers the Trend and Sport variants with the 2-litre bi-turbo diesel engine only while the Platinum is available exclusively with the 3-litre turbo-diesel engine.
The base Trend variant is equipped with 18-inch wheels, the mid-spec Sport variant gets 20-inch wheels, while the top-spec Platinum gets 21-inch wheels. It is also worth pointing out that the Sport variant gets blacked-out inserts in place of chrome elements on the exterior including the grille and badging.
There’s a vivid colour palette to choose from, like Arctic White, Aluminium Metallic, Meteor Grey, Shadow Black, Blue Lightning, Sedona Orange and Equinox Bronze.
It's still uncertain whether the Endeavour will be launched in India, but if it does, it will probably be brought as a completely built unit (CBU) import. This could mean a price range of around Rs 55 lakh to Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete against SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Jeep Meridian, and Skoda Kodiaq.
