Its tail lamp seems to follow the same Christmas-tree light appearance of the current Scorpio, but with full-length lighting elements

There’s still some time left before the next-generation Mahindra Scorpio goes on sale in India. Nevertheless, it seems that some of its spare parts are already in production, and the SUV’s spare tail-light has been spotted at a parts shop in Delhi. We expect to get our first proper look at the 2022 Scorpio on its 20th birthday in June 2022.

The 2022 Scorpio’s tail lamp seems to be much larger than the existing SUV’s rear lights. It retains the Christmas tree light aesthetic of older Scorpio iterations. This time around, the upper L-shaped section will be a diffused lighting element. It is intersected at the bottom by a horizontal LED strip with a chrome surround. You can even spot the taillight behind all the camouflage in the image from our last Scorpio update

Inside, the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio is set to get new creature comforts such as a bespoke audio system (similar to the XUV700’s Sony sound system), centre console-mounted touchscreen, dual-zone climate control and a sunroof. It is likely to feature safety equipment such as six airbags, stability control and a 360-degree camera.

We reckon the Scorpio will receive a 2-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine options, the same as the XUV700, for which the motors are tuned for 200PS and 185PS, respectively. In the Scorpio, both motors are expected to be in a lower state of tune. The choice of gearboxes will be limited to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic.
